§Grammar and usage
When the reporting verb is in the past tense, the tense of the reported words usually moves one step back, so 'is' becomes 'was' and 'will' becomes 'would'.
जब reporting verb past tense में हो, तो reported words का tense आमतौर पर एक कदम पीछे चला जाता है, इसलिए 'is' बदलकर 'was' और 'will' बदलकर 'would' हो जाता है।
The tense does not change when the reported words state a universal truth, as in 'The teacher said that the earth goes round the sun'.
जब reported words किसी universal truth को बताते हैं, तो tense नहीं बदलता, जैसे 'The teacher said that the earth goes round the sun'।
'said to' with a person object usually becomes 'told' in indirect speech, as in 'He told me that he was tired'.
Person object के साथ 'said to' indirect speech में आमतौर पर 'told' बन जाता है, जैसे 'He told me that he was tired'।
