?Which word?

jealousy or envy?

Strictly, envy is wanting what another person has: 'envy of his success'. Jealousy is fear of losing what you have, especially a person's love, to a rival: 'jealousy of her husband's secretary'. In everyday use jealous is used for both ('jealous of his new car'), but in exams the distinction is tested: you envy a thing, you are jealous over a person. Zealous (with z) means enthusiastic and is unrelated.

सख्ती से, envy दूसरे की चीज़ चाहना है: 'envy of his success'। Jealousy अपनी चीज़, विशेषकर किसी का प्रेम, प्रतिद्वंद्वी को खोने का डर है: 'jealousy of her husband's secretary'। रोज़मर्रा में jealous दोनों के लिए आता है ('jealous of his new car'), पर परीक्षा में अंतर पूछा जाता है: चीज़ का envy, व्यक्ति पर jealous। Zealous (z के साथ) का अर्थ 'उत्साही' है और असंबंधित।

The jealousy/envy pair and the jealous/zealous pair are regular items.

Jealousy/envy और jealous/zealous की जोड़ियाँ अक्सर पूछी जाती हैं।
