modal verb modal auxiliary

§Grammar and usage

A modal is always followed by the base form of the verb, so say 'She can sing' (not 'She can sings' or 'She can to sing').

Modal के बाद हमेशा verb का base form आता है, इसलिए 'She can sing' कहें ('She can sings' या 'She can to sing' नहीं)।

'ought to' is the only common modal that takes 'to' before the next verb.

'Ought to' अकेला आम modal है जिसके बाद अगले verb से पहले 'to' आता है।

Modals have no -s in the third person and no -ing or -ed forms.

Modals में third person में -s नहीं लगता और इनके -ing या -ed रूप नहीं होते।
