Homophone: ought and aught (old use, anything) are both /ɔːt/.

Homophone: ought और aught (पुराना प्रयोग, कुछ भी) दोनों /ɔːt/ हैं।

§Grammar and usage

Ought is always followed by 'to' + base form ('You ought to go', not 'ought go'); this makes it different from other modals; the negative is ought not to ('You ought not to lie'); ought to have + past participle (a past duty that was not done: 'You ought to have informed me').

यह बहुत पूछा जाता है: ought के बाद सदा 'to' + base form आता है ('You ought to go', 'ought go' नहीं); यह इसे अन्य modals से भिन्न बनाता है; नकारात्मक ought not to है ('You ought not to lie'); ought to have + past participle (अतीत का न किया गया कर्तव्य: 'You ought to have informed me')।

Usage: ought to has almost the same meaning as should but is slightly stronger and more formal.

प्रयोग में ought to का अर्थ लगभग should जैसा है पर थोड़ा अधिक सशक्त और औपचारिक है।
