§Grammar and usage

Prevailing is used only before a noun, so we say 'the prevailing view' but not 'the view is prevailing'.

Prevailing केवल noun से पहले प्रयोग होता है, इसलिए 'the prevailing view' कहते हैं, पर 'the view is prevailing' नहीं।

Prevail over or against somebody means to defeat them, and prevail on or upon somebody means to persuade them.

Prevail over या against somebody का अर्थ किसी को हराना है, और prevail on या upon somebody का अर्थ किसी को मनाना है।
