spite·ful

?Which word?

spite, in spite of and despite

Spite (noun) is a desire to hurt: 'out of spite'. In spite of and despite both mean 'without being affected by' and are followed by a noun or -ing form: 'in spite of the rain', 'despite being tired'. Never write 'despite of'.

Spite (noun) चोट पहुँचाने की इच्छा है: 'out of spite'। 'In spite of' और 'despite' दोनों का अर्थ 'के बावजूद' है और इनके बाद noun या -ing form आता है: 'in spite of the rain', 'despite being tired'। 'Despite of' कभी न लिखिए।

The in spite of/despite rule ('despite of' is wrong) is an error-spotting item.

'in spite of/despite' का नियम ('despite of' गलत है) पूछा जाता है।
