§Grammar and usage
After imaginary 'if', 'wish', 'as if' and 'as though', use 'were' for all persons, as in 'If I were a bird' (not 'If I was a bird' in formal exam English).
काल्पनिक 'if', 'wish', 'as if' और 'as though' के बाद सभी persons के साथ 'were' आता है, जैसे 'If I were a bird' (formal exam English में 'If I was a bird' नहीं)।
After words such as suggest, insist, recommend, essential and necessary, use 'should + base form' or the base form alone, as in 'It is essential that he should attend' or 'It is essential that he attend' (not 'attends').
Suggest, insist, recommend, essential और necessary जैसे शब्दों के बाद 'should + base form' या केवल base form आता है, जैसे 'It is essential that he should attend' या 'It is essential that he attend' ('attends' नहीं)।
After 'It is time', the past tense is used with a present meaning, as in 'It is time we left'.
'It is time' के बाद past tense का प्रयोग present अर्थ में होता है, जैसे 'It is time we left'।
