§Grammar and usage

Than is used after comparatives ('better than', 'more interesting than'); but some comparative words take 'to', not 'than': superior to, inferior to, senior to, junior to, prior to, prefer to ('He is senior to me', not 'senior than'); 'other than' and 'rather than'; 'no sooner ... than' (not 'when'); 'hardly or scarcely ... when' (not 'than'); in formal English, 'taller than I am' or 'taller than I'.

यह बहुत पूछा जाता है: comparatives के बाद than प्रयुक्त होता है ('better than', 'more interesting than'); पर कुछ तुलनात्मक शब्द 'than' नहीं, 'to' लेते हैं: superior to, inferior to, senior to, junior to, prior to, prefer to ('He is senior to me', 'senior than' नहीं); 'other than' और 'rather than'; 'no sooner ... than' ('when' नहीं); 'hardly या scarcely ... when' ('than' नहीं); औपचारिक English में 'taller than I am' या 'taller than I'।
