broke, broken and break

Broke is the past tense of break ('He broke the glass') and, informally, an adjective meaning without money ('I am broke'). Broken is the past participle and the usual adjective ('a broken glass', 'The glass is broken'). Never say 'the glass is broke' for damaged, or 'I am broken' for penniless. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' is a deliberately informal saying.

Broke, break का past tense है ('He broke the glass') और, अनौपचारिक रूप से, 'पैसे से खाली' अर्थ का adjective ('I am broke')। Broken past participle और सामान्य adjective है ('a broken glass', 'The glass is broken')। टूटे के लिए 'the glass is broke' या कंगाल के लिए 'I am broken' कभी न कहिए। 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' जानबूझकर अनौपचारिक कहावत है।

§Grammar and usage

Broke (past of break; or penniless) versus broken (participle; damaged): 'He broke it', 'It is broken', 'I am broke'.

यह बहुत पूछा जाता है: broke (break का past; या कंगाल) बनाम broken (participle; टूटा हुआ): 'He broke it', 'It is broken', 'I am broke'।
