§Structures (grammar patterns) 4

elsewhere (adverb of place)

Elsewhere means in, at or to another place. It is an adverb, so no preposition (to, in, at) is used before it.

Elsewhere का अर्थ किसी दूसरे स्थान पर या दूसरे स्थान को है। यह adverb है, इसलिए इसके पहले to, in, at जैसा preposition नहीं लगता।

  • If the hotel is full, we will stay elsewhere.

elsewhere in + place

A phrase with 'in' can follow when you compare the place you mean with a larger area.

sentence adverb at start

from elsewhere

'From elsewhere' is a normal phrase meaning from another place; 'to elsewhere' is rarely used. A pronoun may be used instead.

'From elsewhere' का अर्थ किसी दूसरे स्थान से है और यह सामान्य प्रयोग है; 'to elsewhere' कम आता है।
