equality and equity
Equality means giving everybody the same: the same rights, the same treatment. Equity means fairness, giving people what they need to have an equal chance, which may mean treating them differently (reservations, ramps for wheelchairs). The Constitution guarantees both: equality before the law (Article 14) and special provisions for backward classes (Articles 15 and 16).
