trail (noun): a trail of + noun / on the trail of

A trail is a line of marks left by somebody or something. Use a trail of for what is left, and on the trail of when you are following it.

'Trail' किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु द्वारा छोड़े गए निशानों की रेखा है। जो पीछे छूटा हो उसके लिए 'a trail of' और जब आप उसका पीछा कर रहे हों तब 'on the trail of' का प्रयोग होता है।

  • The truck left a trail of dust on the village road.
  • The police are on the trail of the thief.

trail (noun) = path: a nature trail / a hiking trail

In this sense a trail is a path through countryside or forest, used for walking.

इस अर्थ में 'trail' गाँव या जंगल से होकर जाने वाला पैदल रास्ता है।

  • We followed a narrow trail through the forest to the waterfall.

trail (verb) + behind / by + number

As a verb, trail means to be losing in a contest, or to follow slowly behind. Behind or by shows who or how much.

Verb के रूप में 'trail' का अर्थ प्रतियोगिता में पीछे होना या धीरे-धीरे पीछे चलना है। Behind या by बताता है कि किससे पीछे या कितने अंतर से।

  • The little boy trailed behind his father in the market.

trail + sb / sth (to follow)

Trail can take a direct object when you follow somebody secretly or look for signs. It is a stronger word than follow.

जब आप किसी का चुपके से पीछा करें या निशान खोजें, तब 'trail' direct object ले सकता है। यह 'follow' से अधिक प्रबल शब्द है।
