?Which word?

path, pass and pathos

A path is a track for walking. A pass is a route through mountains ('the Khyber Pass') or a permit; the verb pass means to go by. Pathos, pathetic and sympathy come from the Greek pathos, feeling, not from path. The plural paths is pronounced /pɑːðz/, with the th of 'this'; the singular has the th of 'thin'.

Path पैदल चलने का रास्ता है। Pass पहाड़ों से होकर रास्ता ('the Khyber Pass') या अनुमति-पत्र; verb pass का अर्थ 'गुज़रना'। Pathos, pathetic और sympathy Greek pathos, भावना, से हैं, path से नहीं। Plural paths की pronunciation /pɑːðz/ है, 'this' वाले th से; singular में 'thin' वाला th।
