§Grammar and usage

Which is used for things and animals, not people ('the dog which barked'; but 'the boy who', not 'the boy which'); which is used in non-defining clauses with commas ('My car, which is red, is old'), where that cannot be used; which can refer to a whole clause ('He passed, which surprised everyone').

यह बहुत पूछा जाता है: which चीज़ों और जानवरों के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, लोगों के लिए नहीं ('the dog which barked'; पर 'the boy who', 'the boy which' नहीं); which commas वाले non-defining clauses में प्रयुक्त होता है ('My car, which is red, is old'), जहाँ that प्रयुक्त नहीं हो सकता; which पूरे उपवाक्य को इंगित कर सकता है ('He passed, which surprised everyone')।
