§Grammar and usage

Choose between whoever and whomever by its job inside its own clause, not by the word that comes before it.

Whoever और whomever में से चुनाव उसके अपने clause में उसके काम के आधार पर होता है, उससे पहले आने वाले शब्द के आधार पर नहीं।

'Give the book to whoever needs it' is correct, because whoever is the subject of the verb needs, so 'to whomever needs it' is wrong.

Grammar के अनुसार 'Give the book to whoever needs it' सही है, क्योंकि whoever, verb needs का subject है, इसलिए 'to whomever needs it' गलत है।

'Invite whomever you like' is correct, because whomever is the object of like.

Grammar के अनुसार 'Invite whomever you like' सही है, क्योंकि whomever, like का object है।

Usage: in everyday English whoever is often used in both positions, but exams follow the formal rule.

Usage में रोज़मर्रा की English में दोनों जगह अक्सर whoever प्रयोग होता है, पर परीक्षा में formal नियम ही माना जाता है।
