Science, asked very often: a lever has three parts: fulcrum (the fixed point), effort (the force applied) and load (the weight moved); in a first-class lever the fulcrum is in the middle (seesaw, scissors); in a second-class lever the load is in the middle (nutcracker, wheelbarrow); in a third-class lever the effort is in the middle (tongs, the human forearm).
