≈Synonyms and antonyms
?Which word?

past or passed?

Passed is only the past tense of the verb pass: 'She passed the exam', 'The bus passed us'. Past is the noun, adjective, preposition or adverb, never a verb: 'in the past', 'past mistakes', 'ten past six', 'walk past'. Test: if you can replace it with 'went by' or 'succeeded', it is passed; if it tells where or when, it is past. 'The bus went past' (adverb) but 'The bus passed' (verb).

Passed केवल verb pass का past tense है: 'She passed the exam', 'The bus passed us'। Past noun, adjective, preposition या adverb है, verb कभी नहीं: 'in the past', 'past mistakes', 'ten past six', 'walk past'। जाँच: अगर 'went by' या 'succeeded' रख सकें तो passed; अगर कहाँ या कब बताए तो past। 'The bus went past' (adverb) पर 'The bus passed' (verb)।

Keep apart past (time gone by) and pastime (a hobby, with one s).

Past (बीता समय) और pastime (शौक, एक s के साथ) को अलग रखिए।
